Jessika | Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

by Au Pair in America

It’s been 10 months since Jessika first arrived in the USA to start her au pair year. Back then, she had no idea what life as an au pair in New Jersey would be like. Now, she’s basically a local, has experienced so many new things, traveled to so many new places and is still exploring! Let’s see where her latest adventures have taken her…

TIME FLIES

Hi Guys, did you guys miss me?

It’s been 2 months since my last blog and I’ve totally missed sharing my adventures with you. Time has just flown by! It’s been 10 months since I got on that plane and arrived in the USA as an au pair, 10 months away from home, 10 months of learning and discovering who I am as a person and I’m still loving every minute!

The last two months have been amazing and I’ve had the chance to tick some more places off my U.S bucket list, which I’ll tell you all about in this post!

LADY LIBERTY

The Statue of Liberty is one of New York’s most famous symbols. It symbolizes political freedom and democracy. There are two ways to access to the Liberty Statue: Firstly, from New Jersey (Liberty State Park) or secondly, from New York (Battery Park). I live in New Jersey, but I chose to go to NYC to enjoy the visit and so I could see more places during my trip. There are loads of different boat rides and cruises which will take you to the Statue of Liberty and you can find lots of different ticket options online.

Oh hey 👋

To access the Crown of the Statue of Liberty you must make the purchase up to 6 months in advance. The ticket costs $ 21.50 and you will have access to the floor, pedestal, crown, museum and Ellis island. This visit and the wait is SO worth it, you will have to climb 377 steps but the view you get of NYC at the top, is well worth the climb!

A dream come true!! 😍

DISNEY & UNIVERSAL STUDIOS

My latest trip was to Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando. Both of these places left me completely speechless. It’s only been a week since I came back from Orlando and I feel like I’ve just woken up from the most incredible dream. The lights, the atmosphere, the characters… everything about these places is magical!

This was another of my solo trips and I was able to visit: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Universal Studios and Island of Adventures. Whether you go with your host family, your friends or by yourself, I would 100% recommend that you visit these places during your au pair year. They are truly magical and are a big part of what makes America so great!

😘😘😘

This experience as an Au Pair in America has made me grow as a person, has made me realize that I can adapt to the unknown and that I can be happy, even though I am far away from my family. I’ve been able to create new relationships with people who I love so much and consider part of my family. If I hadn’t decided to become an au pair, I would never have had the privilege of meeting them. 10 months later and after all this time I still feel immensely happy to have made the choice to come to the USA as an au pair.

See you in the next month 🙂
