Hi everyone! I’m Barbora and this is my introduction to my au pair life. I’m 19 years old and I come from small country- Czech Republic. If someone knows where this small country is- applause for you🤣🙏🏼
A few months back, I was in the same position as you. “What I’m gonna do? Should I go to College or University?”. I secretly wished to try living abroad, but I was afraid. In February 2019 I’ve made a decision. I want to become an au pair. I want to be more independent, improve my English, get to know new culture and I love being surrounded by kids. That’s the important thing- love kids. You’ll spend most of your time with them.
I found this agency because of my friend’s recommendation…and then everything had started.
Completing my application and matching my host family. I had several potential host families in Dallas, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York and Boston etc. One day I received another “interested host family letter”. I immediately fell in love with that family. My only requirement was to have older kids from 4 years old up. I don’t know why but I was kinda afraid to take care of toddlers. I was like “I’m not experienced or old enough”. These days I’m completely sure that I could handle it because my au pair friends have smaller kids and I love it! So don’t be afraid to take care of small kids, they’re so sweet.
My host family has 2 boys. They’re 9 and 12 years old. They also have a dog so that was a sign I have to be their au pair!!😂 It’s my first month here in the USA and I love them so much. My host family treats me like a family member. I was so lucky and I’m thankful.
As I wrote in the beginning I wasn’t sure if I could make it. Guess what? I’ve made it.
