Jessika | Happy 1st Year In The USA To Me!

by Au Pair in America

It is funny how life pushes you exactly to the places you need to go … As everything happens at the right time, how every detail can change the course of your life and always for the better. I think most of the girls who are already au pairs will know more or less what I’m talking about.

1 Year… Say What?!

I can’t believe I’ve already been in the USA for one year! I don’t even know where to begin with summarizing my first year as an Au Pair living in New Jersey with an incredible family. They are so amazing that I decided to stay with them for another year. This year I have done things I never imagined I would do. I took a helicopter ride through Manhattan, I went kayaking on one of the best-known rivers, got to know the actors of my favorite TV series, travelled to some amazing cities, went to Disney World, went to the Queen B Concert – (Beyoncé for the uninitiated 😉).

NYC… My Home! ❤️

This past weekend I went to the NYC fashion week with two of my au pair friends. It was amazing and what’s even better, the show was free! I’ve eaten so many different types of food and above all I made friendships that I intend to keep for the rest of my life.

It’s Not Always An Easy Ride

Reading all this you may think that life here is as perfect as it could possibly be. Of course, life here is not perfect or easy. I think the obstacles you face as an au pair, motivate you to keep going and to focus on all the things ahead of you. Besides being away from my family, staying a few days at the hospital and crying for  all the stuff I left behind. In spite of all that, I still have the feeling that everything has been totally worth it. ❤️

My Advice To You

So, my advice to you if you are thinking about becoming an au pair or, if you are currently an au pair and are having a tough couple of weeks is to follow the signs! There is always a reason why things happen as they do, even if we do not understand at first.

For me, God is the wind that blows in the sail of the boat of life. Faith is raising the anchor and allowing the boat to flow through the stream. Love is to let life take you where you need to be.

Everything in life is fleeting even the difficulties, always remember that God does not give you dreams that you cannot do! What are your dreams? I urge you to not give up on yourself and do whatever you need to, to accomplish your dreams!
