About me and why I became an Au Pair
“I’m Samantha and I am from Colombia, but am currently doing a Research Master’s in the Netherlands. Before I moved to the US, I wanted to generate a change in my life and start a new version of myself, that is when I began the Au Pair program process and it definitely changed my life. I was working with kids in Colombia, which made me realise I had a lovely connection with kids, but at the same time, I wanted to live a different experience that would take me out of my comfort zone.
The Au Pair in America program met all my expectations and it broke my fear barriers to conquer the world. Now, I am living the life of my dreams and I am very grateful I started jumping out to the real world with the Au Pair in America program.”
My host children
“I took care of two lovely boys aged 6 and 10. We had a beautiful relationship and I shared incredible moments with them. I had the opportunity to teach them Spanish and use my native language with them, while improving my English skills with their parents who were incredible hosts for me.”
My career
“I moved to the Netherlands and I am now starting my second semester of my Master’s at the University of Groningen. My journey has been incredible and I am grateful to my ex-host family that allowed me to save money and move to Europe to start my Master’s degree.”
My favourite Au Pair memory
“I have many cherished memories, but one of my favourites is when the kids surprised me with a trip to Florida. We spent time building sandcastles, playing volleyball on the beach and exploring a beautiful town together. I truly felt part of the family, and these moments are ones I will treasure for the rest of my life.”
